Alina entered the world of tomato growing as a business opportunity. She produces cherry tomatoes in a Dutch greenhouse in a village near Cluj, Romania. Along the way, she was captivated by the concept of organic farming and gathered knowledge from all around to make sure she had a completely organic harvest. Alina’s company now sets the standard for organic tomato growing in Romania.
‘Organic farming, I think, is the way of the future. It means caring for and loving our planet. I know that there is a lot of garbage in the world at the moment. It’s crucial that we save the planet. Organic farming means helping people and helping the planet. We have only one planet. If it’s destroyed, we have nothing. In a country like Romania, organic farming is extra challenging. A lot of people will tell you that you will not succeed. They’ll say it’s risky, it’s impossible, because of all the new rules, the European Union. Or because you are too young, ignorant and inexperienced. It’s true that it’s not easy, but it’s not impossible.’
